Five of My Living Heroes
(Not in a specific order)
1. P.K. Subban
P.K. Subban is a black professional ice hockey player for the Montreal Canadiens. P.K. is one of my heroes because he's an extremely talented hockey player and a role model for people everywhere. P.K. Subban won the Norris Trophy in 2013 as best defensemen in the NHL. Recently Subban donated ten million dollars to a children's hospital in Canada. Subban volunteers with youth hockey players routinely and has a great personality off the ice. One day I would like to give back to my community and inspire others doing something I love in the same way as P.K. Subban.
2. Pavel Datsyuk
Pavel Datsyuk is also a professional ice hockey player and currently plays for the Detroit Red Wings. Datsyuk is one of my living heroes because he was doubted his entire life and proved all of the critics wrong. Datsyuk was taken in the last round of the NHL draft and wasn't expected to play a single game. Today, Datsyuk is known as the "Magic Man" because he creates plays that look almost impossible. Datsyuk is still considered one of the most talented players in the league despite being in his late thirties.
3. Anne Curtis
My step-grandmother Anne is one of my living heroes because she's and incredibly nice person. Anne has also survived breast cancer. Anne graduated from Harvard and took medical school at Yale University. Today Anne is in her late sixties works as a radiologist at Yale New Haven Hospital.
4. The Ma'ms (Master Strongheart, Master Wells, Instructor Vlcek)
The instructors and masters at M.I.M.A are my living heroes because they teach kids respect, raise awareness about bullying, and they provide a fun and challenging environment to work out. Since I've enrolled at Mercer Island Martial Arts I've become a better person by being around great people.
5. Emergency Room Doctors
E.R. doctors are some of my living heroes because they work around the clock taking care of people who are in dire need of help. Last year I was very sick and need to be taken to the E.R at Seattle Children's. I have a ton of respect for E.R. doctors because they have to be prepared for anything and ready to save lives.
