9 School Kids Take Pills, Rushed To Hospital
LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. -- The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said nine sixth grade children were rushed to the hospital after they took prescription medications while at Wigwam Creek Middle School in Litchfield Park.Four of the children were taken to the hospital by ambulance. Five others were taken to the hospital by their parents.According to deputies, an alert teacher saw a student handing out prescription pills on the play ground.Deputies said school officials searched the student's backpack and found marijuana and an assortment of prescription medication.Deputies said Child Protective Services was notified and is investigating. 5 News has a crew working this story.Check with KPHO.com for updates on this developing story.
