Kenny's Heroes - Past and Present

Thomas Edison

One of my first ever hero's was Thomas Edison. I can remember in grade school finding every book available in the library about him and reading them all multiple times. Edison is known for creating the first practical light bulb, but most people don't know he actually invented hundreds of other things over his lifetime.  (personally he held more than a thousand patients) Beside the lightbulb, 3820646844?profile=originalhe also invented what we know as a power companies today, motion pictures and multiple tech

Hero Entry 5 - The Lady with the Forgotten Name

an-unknown-hero.jpg(I know the title of this post is a bit cryptic, but I promise, I will explain it!) During my senior year of my undergrad at UW, I had to find a place to do an internship. I found a place called the "Unemployment Law Project", which is located at Downtown Seattle. It was a non-profit law firm that would take cases where a person thought their unemployment benefits were wrongfully taken away from them.

I met and talked with a lot of people there, but one of them stood out to me the most. I honestl

Hero Entry 4 - Judge Linda Jacke

Jacke,_Linda.jpg?1348058837(Slight disclaimer before I start; I tend to side with the prosecutorial side of issues when it comes to the justice system, this entry is just respecting someone I admire and not regarding any type of politics.)

Anyways, as a few of you know, I currently work for the King County District Court system. I have worked with many Judges over the past five years there and I have gotten to know them very well. Out of all the ones that I have worked with, I have the deepest respect and admiration for Ju

Tanner Foust

3820642179?profile=originalTanner Foust is a stunt car driver, Professional Drift Car Driver, Professional Rally Car Driver. I admire him as a Rally driver; he was the gold medalist of global RallyCross of the X Games LA in 2012 with his new Rockstar Ford Fiesta (Shown at the bottom). He is a part time TV show host.

I chose him as a living hero because I love Rally and cars. And I like him because he is world champion, and he has more than one job.

When I’m an adult, I would love to be exactly like him because I

JackieChan.jpg?width=159Jackie Chan

To me Jackie is a noble hero, but I prefer Bruce Lee. But since he is no longer alive, and I need to write on a living hero, I had no either choice than Jackie Chan.

Jackie Chan kind of looks like a ninja monkey when he does all his fancy kicks & spins, unlike Bruce that  goes strong and stiff on his enemies but also has a handful of speed. They both have completely different styles and technique.

Jackie is not only an awesome martial artist, but he is also a very generous person he

Living Hero n.2 by Alex H.

Lionel Messi

3820642110?profile=originalLionel is the best soccer player on earth. I think he is a hero because he is talented and incredibly good at soccer, which is one of my favorite sports. He was an ordinary boy from Argentina, with a lot of health issues (growth hormone deficiency). The treatment for his illness was very expensive.

Then he got recognized by FC Barcelona in Spain because of his excellent skills and technique. He moved to Spain, and he got treated with the club paying for all his medical expenses. When

This post is as a congratulations to two of my living heroes for their recent recognitions of their breakthrough work in the detection of blood cancers.   Denise Wells M.D. and Mike Loken PhD --  your work has changed medicine, and your lives have changed mine.   Bravo!

this is a video that is so great -- and I know the reason that they work so hard, is for these kids, and so many others.

Hero Entry 3 - Lawrence Li

3820641144?profile=originalMy dear older brother, we’ve watched each other grow up since… well the day we were born! Although we had our bumps growing up with our seven year age difference, you have always watched over me. When you came back from college, both of us were a bit older and a bit wiser, and we practically became friends, and not the bickering little boys that we once were. Even though we’re almost exact opposites of each other, I could not ask for a better brother. You can teach me what you know, and I can te

3820640433?profile=originalI call you Renee’s sister for a very good reason! Even though, we’ve only known each other for about a year, I consider you to be one of my best friends. You are so caring in regards to your friends. You have always listened to my rants and raves too, and I honestly don’t know how you and Renee can stand me! We talk almost every day as well, about some of the most random things as well (I swear I’m not copying and pasting the other post); that it always helps brighten my day a bit (transitioning

My Living Heroes

Super-Teacher.jpg       My first living hero is my history teacher, Bill. He always encourages you to research and discover new things about the ancient world. He makes history fun while we are also learning things about the ancient world.

My second living hero is my science teacher, Walter. Whenever someone is yelling at him in class or not doing what they are supposed to do he does not get angry and frustrated no matter what. I have learned so much more about science so far this year than w

Hero Entry 5 - Karen Yuen

Friend! Yes, here would be a beautiful picture of my friend Karen. I assure you she has no problem with me posting this picture because it used to be her profile picture on facebook not too long ago. I also assure you there are more attractive pictures than this, but this face is too awesome not to repost.

3820639818?profile=originalShe is telling me that she is writing an awesome recommendation for me, and from the tidbit she gave me I’m sure it will turn out great. Not because I’m an awesome person, but because she has

Hero Entry 4 - Rosa Parks

3820639534?profile=originalI figured a good place to look for heroes was in history. The problem usually is, though, that on a closer inspection, despite all the good these people have done, often the heroes of history have a dark side. That is not true for Rosa Parks, though. She showed us all a single person, with a single action, can change society for the better. With simple civil disobedience, Rosa parks started a boycott that showed that the simple action of a community can change the world. The civil rights movemen

Hero Entry 3 - Batman

I figured that as long as I was doing a fictional character, I might as well also get this one out of the way. Batman, the coolest superhero out there, shows us that you don’t need to be born with superpowers to save the world; you just need to inherit a lot of money from your murdered parents. Actually, that’s what Bruce Wayne teaches us. I’m don’t think Bruce Wayne is a hero. Batman is a hero, a spirit of justice in Gotham. Not a spirit of j3820639856?profile=originaludgment, though; while Batman is a vigilante, he neve

Hero Entry 2 - Winnie the Pooh

3820639745?profile=originalThis next entry is somewhat ironic, because Pooh is a great example of everything a Campbellian hero is not. He ignores the call to action that is growing up, forever stuck in the Hundred Acre Woods of our innocence, while the rest of the world moves on. Luckily for me, this is not an English assignment and I can say that Pooh is a hero. I never really liked reading Joseph Campbell anyway.

Currently Winnie the Pooh by A. A. Milne sits at the edge of my bookshelf, right next to my computer. I admi

Hero Entry 1 - Alex Lambert

To start my hero blog I wou3820639556?profile=originalld like to honor my little brother, Alex, who has been kind enough to put up with me this past week and housesit. Though we like to act that we can’t stand another, the truth is that next year I will miss hanging out with him at home. One thing that separates Alex from any other family member is our mutual love of video games. He is still at the age where he can waste most his days in front of the television without any school conflicts, so in some ways having him play

10 Living Heroes by Nathan Jackson

1:  My first hero is President Obama.  He is my hero because he is the first African-American president.barack-hussein-obama.jpg?width=138  Also, to become president, he had to have a good attitude, hope, and many other things that helped him become president such as brains, confidence, and good leadership. That shows me that anything can be possible if you just work hard and believe.

Cameron's Heroes for Martial Arts

1 One hero is Master Strongheart because she has taught me from defense to sparing.  She gives me nice encouragement, trust, and respect since the first day of martial arts.  Also she is very enthusiastic.  Thank you Master Strongheart for everything that you taught me through out my life.

2 My next hero is my mom because my mom is very nice, thoughtful, and respectful to everyone.  Even if she is tired when she gets home from work she still has energy to take me to martial arts with no complaint
