CTC member, friend or ally,
Here is an opportunity to take action as an individual to help prevention efforts, including the norms
surrounding underage drinking that we’re trying to change:
Taco Bell is now serving two types of margarita drinks for the summer in their
restaurants throughout North America. Classic Margarita Fruitista Freeze
is marketed as, “A smooth frozen margarita-flavored drink topped with a fresh
lime wedge.” The franchise restaurants are also selling Strawberry
Margaritas.
These drinks are non-alcoholic, but they look like and taste like the real
thing. Taco Bell has always been a family restaurant, and this promotion of an
alcohol-like drink is not "youth friendly". Alcohol is the
number one preventable cause of death among America's adolescents. If
our communities are to discourage underage drinking, all segments of
society must help, and that includes businesses like Taco Bell.
I invite you to consider contacting Taco Bell to share your thoughts on this
promotion that seems to glamorize and normalize alcohol to the
adolescents who patronize Taco Bell.
You can call 1-800-TACO-Bell (1-800-822-6235) to express your concerns. Request
that your protest be passed along to corporate officials. You will be asked to
provide your name and phone number.
You can also write letters to:
Mr. Greg Creed, President and Chief Concept Officer
Taco Bell
17901 Von Karman Avenue
Irvine, California 92614
You can also fax your concerns to Taco Bell at:
1-949-863-2252.
Thanks for all you do,
Derek
