My weekly push for 2nd Dan.

olympics.jpg?width=416It's the day after the sparring class, I had so much fun and learned tons. I have quite a bruise on my right foot by my big toe. It seems to be a little better than yesterday. The foot is a little sore so I will be taking it easy Monday. I hope to come to class Tuesday. It has been hard to get to class sometimes with work being unpredictable, I am still motivated to move forward. I am not sure if I can make the time line set for December.  Sometimes I can only make one class a week. We will see.

Healthy snacks… for kids? Tough to find in today’s world of fast food and high fructose corn syrup… have you read the back of some of those supposedly “health bars” and see the list of additives, preservatives, stabilizers, sodium and sugar? Yuk! Terrible for us adults, even worse for kids.  Thank goodness we’ve found a truly healthy alterative… a fresh “Zone based” snack bar from Chef by Request, the Northwest’s leading healthy meal delivery service.  Delicious and nutritious without anything a

My weekly push for 2nd Dan.

Hello again. This was a tough week for me, I worked late three days and I lost my aunt Sebing yesterday. I was only able to make one class this week, but what a class! We got worked! I love it! When I can barely stand at the end of a class I know it has been a good one. I would like more of those please.

To everyone, keep working hard and you will get where you what to go.

I am as motivated as ever. See you in class.

Black%20Belt%202nd%20Deg.jpg?width=288I had so much fun last night!

I am very motivated to push forward. I am working at a new job so making class on time will be catch as catch can. I am hoping that I will be able to make Tuesday and Thursday like usual.

I am  little tired today but it feels great. I wish I had more time to give to the other students to help them along, I feel it is important that I give as much as I can.

This journey is starting to feel like giving is more important than receiving. And I like how that feels.

moving forward

It's been a long time coming. I am very excited about being able to test again after a long time off.

DahnBohNym.jpgI have never forgotten what my goal has been in Martial Arts. Since the day I put it up there, my eye has never been off that Black Belt on the wall.

Setting goals is a very important part of getting anywhere in life. Some goals might be for later today, next week or even years down the road. The thing to remember is to set them today!

Over the years I have set many goals. Some goals change, and I'

Everyone needs a little support

This week my fiancee, Rita, started going to Physical Therapy for a few minor aches and pains that have been bothering her for a while.  I've been interested in body mechanics and muscular movement for a while and have been giving serious thought about going back to school to become a physical therapist; so I went with her.  I wanted to see what she was prescribed to do, see what other people were doing, and I wanted to be able to support her.

I've have had fairly decent support throughout

It’s this simple:  Children defend 3820636059?profile=originalthemselves with their heads. It’s knowledge that protects children in today’s world. Knowledge about safety, about what to avoid, about what to do, where to go, and how to stay out of harm’s way.

We are a part of a remarkable association of martial arts teachers, really forward thinking and action-oriented instructors, who come together almost every day to move worthwhile projects forward. The group is called The One Hundred, it’s headed by a 6th degree blac

Please, if you don't know what to say, or how to say it, let me know.  I would be happy to help.  But the story I read today, is unfortunately not uncommon.  6th graders:  read below.

I will make sure to post more blogs on talking to your kids, and how to educate them to prevent this kind of problem for them.

I took my first martial arts lesson at age 9. By the age of 13, when my friends were experimenting, when peer pressure seemed at an all time high, when I just knew my brain power had far surpassed my father’s, and when I couldn’t pass any reflective surface without gazing in wonder at what it beheld, I was firmly and deeply entrenched in my identity as a martial artist.

The classes anchored me, in fact, they were just about the only place where I could stand completely still for any extended pe
